Things to Do!

We're excited to see everyone! We've been getting a lot of questions about what exactly there is to do in the Poughkeepsie area (besides hang out with us, of course). Check below for some options. If you have any questions, please email us!

Quick Visits
If you need to kill some time before the church, or between the church and reception, these are your best bets:

- Grab a coffee or a bite to eat at one of the restaurants in the Village of Fishkill. Just promise not to spoil your supper! Cibo is good for a quick sandwich, and there are two small wine bars in the village. Your GPS can also direct you to the Starbucks right off of Route 9, or the 84 Diner (where Rachel worked for exactly three days in one summer during college).

- Head to Poughkeepsie and visit the Walkway over the Hudson, which is a pedestrian park created from an abandoned railroad bridge. It's a great way to see the Hudson River. (Just bring a pair of flats if you plan to walk it!)

- Visit downtown Beacon. It's a recently revived downtown with lots of coffee shops, art galleries, and an amazing taco place.

- On a practical note...go shopping! Buy the belt you forgot, or get a new pair of stockings to replace the pair that snagged. There are plenty of stores up and down Route 9.

Longer Trips
If you're going to be in town for awhile, you might want to explore some of these places:

Historic Places

Outdoor Activities

Wineries and Restaurants

And if you still need more ideas... there's always Hudson Valley Tourism
